The incubation period is the time between infection and the onset of symptoms. If one has become infected with Chlamydia, it takes about one to four weeks until the disease breaks out.
Can one get symptoms only after years?
A Chlamydia infection, which has been causing symptoms since new, can also be months or years ago. This means that those affected may have been infected with Chlamydia for a long time and it may have already settled in the fallopian tubes or ovaries without being noticed.If a doctor is only consulted after months or years when acute symptoms occur, it may be that the danger of late effects such as infertility can no longer be avoided.
Can a woman have Chlamydia without symptoms?
A Chlamydia infection can be completely without symptoms. Approximately seven out of ten women report no symptoms, whereas for men this is five out of ten. This means that only about 20-30% of women notice symptoms. This in turn can be dangerous, as an unnoticed and thus untreated chlamydia infection is one of the main causes of infertility.
