Cleansing and Care: Combination Skin

The skin is not only a reflection of the soul, but also of the nutrient and vital substance supply. Despite a rich, wholesome food supply, a sufficient individual vital substance supply is not always guaranteed. An insufficient vital substance supply can, for example, be caused by incorrect food preparation or be caused by an individual vital substance surplus requirement. This can become noticeable not only by physical condition disturbances as for example a decrease of the efficiency, but leaves also traces on the skin. Skin problems such as dry or oily skin, rashes and itching or hypersensitive skin can be caused by an insufficient supply of nutrients and vital substances. The appearance and the condition of your skin shape your self-image and thus your self-confidence to a particular degree. Combination skin is characterized by an oily forehead, nose and chin area (T-zone), while the rest of the facial skin is dry.

Pay attention to the following skin signals

  • Skin shines quickly, especially on the chin, nose and forehead.
  • The skin often appears pale and gray and slightly red and flaky in the T-zone.
  • The skin tends to impurities (blackheads) in the T-zone area.
  • The skin texture shows few lines and wrinkles.

How to cleanse the combination skin?

The first step of care is cleansing. The correct cleansing technique consists of not irritating, tugging or stretching the skin. For cleansing and care instructions, please refer to the chapters “Oily skin” and “Dry and sensitive skin“.

How to care for combination skin?

The following applies to combination skin: the dry areas need greasy creams, while the oily areas need careful cleansing.

What can be done for blemished skin?

The most important thing to do for blemished skin is to cleanse your skin. After cleansing, always use only skin care products that are suitable for your skin type and skin condition and that additionally control excessive oil production, because excessive oil production is one of the main causes of “blemished” skin. Skin care products that are used for this purpose perform this task in two ways. First, they dry out impurities, then cover them at the same time.

In case of persistent disorders such as severe acne (e.g. acne vulgaris), you should also think about drug treatment. However, this is only effective alongside good external care.

How are blackheads (comedones) removed?

Blackheads (comedones) should be removed by trained beauticians after softening the keratinization at the follicle exit by steam bath or special compresses by slitting the excretory duct with a fine knife. If the sebum is not squeezed out professionally, long-lasting inflammation, brown discoloration of the skin and scarring may occur. Caution. In the T-zone area (forehead, nose, chin), use only oil-free moisturizer, oil-free makeup, and oil- and talc-free powders to avoid blackheads.

What to look for in milia (skin gravel)?

The same applies here as in the treatment of blackheads. If skin gravel is not removed properly, permanent skin damage can result.
