Cost of a spectacle passport
Anyone who has a new pair of glasses or sometimes just new lenses made, usually gets a glasses pass issued free of charge by the respective optician. However, this is a voluntary service, the customer has no right to it. Those who only come for an eye test and would like to have a spectacle passport issued must pay for it.
The optician determines the amount of the costs. This is understandable in view of the large number of online opticians, because otherwise the customer could simply order glasses from the local optician on the Internet with the values of the glasses pass. Who cannot decide between the classic optician and the online retailers should note that a local contact person who can advise and measure is often the better choice for more complicated cases.
