Denture adhesive creams for partial dentures
Partial dentures usually adhere via clasps, attachments or telescopes. A means of further adhesion is therefore usually not necessary. However, the pressure conditions on the jaw can vary greatly in individual areas, so that a denture adhesive cream can increase wearing comfort and distribute the pressure better. Here, too, the penetration of food residues is naturally prevented by the adhesive cream.
Other denture adhesives
Other forms of denture adhesive are powders, pastes, liquids, adhesive pads and strips. If the denture holds poorly due to dry mouth, it is advisable to use a powder. Unlike the denture adhesive cream, the denture should not be dried after cleaning, but the powder should be sprinkled into the recess of the still wet denture.
If the adhesive agent was not prescribed by the dentist, it should only be used until the next dentist appointment. The dentist can often improve the hold of the denture by grinding the teeth or by the so called relining. With relining, additional plastic material is applied to the denture base on those areas where the denture bedding has changed or deteriorated.
