Vascular Surgery

For example, vascular surgeons treat patients suffering from intermittent claudication (PAD, smoker’s leg), vascular malformations (e.g. aortic aneurysm) or varicose veins. If a vessel is narrowed, for example, it can often be surgically reopened. If this is not possible, a “bypass” can help, a vascular bypass (e.g. on the heart). And vascular prostheses can be implanted to completely replace blocked or severely damaged vessel sections, for example in the area of the main artery in the chest or abdomen.
