A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:
- General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body weight, height; further:
- Inspection (viewing) of the entire skin!
- Skin [skin florescences (skin lesions):
- Partly scaly, partly excoriated erythema (“excoriated skin redness”) on dry skin.
- Fine reticular cracks of the stratum corneum (craquelé-shaped torn, ie looks like cracked porcelain).
- Scratch excoriations, i.e. substance defect of the skin caused by scratching, which extends into the stratum papillare of the skin.
- Possibly small superficial hemorrhages
- If necessary, dysesthesias (sensory disturbances)]
- Skin [skin florescences (skin lesions):
- Inspection (viewing) of the entire skin!
- Health check
