Diagnosis by X-ray/MRI
X-rays are not necessarily suitable for the diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome. However, they can be helpful in detecting other diseases that are often associated with carpal tunnel syndrome (e.g. arthrosis of the thumb saddle joint). An MRI examination is usually not necessary and is not part of the routine diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome. Only if there is a concrete suspicion of a tumor disease in the wrist, the MRI is considered useful.
