Diagnostics | Increased pulse

Diagnostics

First of all, an anamnesis interview is indispensable, during which the doctor determines, among other things, how often and in which situations the increased pulse occurs. Furthermore, a blood count can be informative. An elevated pulse is diagnosed by feeling the pulse and determining the frequency.

Furthermore, the physician performs a physical search and listens to the heart. In addition, an ECG (electrocardiogram) is taken, which records the propagation of excitation through the heart and thus shows any abnormalities. This ECG can also be carried along as a small device over 24 hours (long-term ECG) and thus record irregularities in the heart activity over several hours, which the doctor can then evaluate. In addition, it is possible to examine the heart by means of ultrasound (echocardiography) to show the function and size of the heart and valves.
