Dinoprost is commercially available as a veterinary drug as a solution for injection (Dinolytic, Enzaprost). It has been approved in many countries since 1981.
Structure and properties
Dinoprost (C20H34O5, Mr = 354.5 g/mol) exists as dinoprost trometamol, a white crystalline powder that is very soluble in water. It corresponds to the natural prostaglandin F2α.
Effects
Dinoprost (ATCvet QG02AD01) is luteolytic and stimulates myometrial smooth muscle.
