Elastic cartilage
Elastic cartilage is the only thing that humans have: in addition to the structures found in hyaline cartilage, it also contains elastic fiber networks. These fiber networks are arranged in a net-like fashion around the chondrons and radiate into the adjacent cartilage skin (perichondrium). Due to these elastic fibers, it has a yellowish appearance and is significantly more flexible and elastic than hyaline cartilage. There is no mineralization or bone formation in elastic cartilage.
