Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture (synonyms: Electroacupuncture according to Voll (EAV); Immune System Test (IST); EAV) goes back to the old traditional method of classical acupuncture in Chinese medicine and is used today in combination with alternative methods such as homeopathy. Acupuncture is based on the assumption that the energy channels (meridians) of the body can be reached via certain acupuncture points and can thus be influenced by targeted needle puncture with regard to diseases. Here, an electric current is applied to the acupuncture needle, which has a therapeutic effect on the diseased tissue. The German physician Reinhold Voll (1909-1989) further developed the method and advocated the assumption that the measurement of a stimulation current at the defined acupuncture points provides information about the local conductivity of the tissue, about the functional state and about the tolerance of medications.

Indications (areas of application)

  • Early detection of disorders – Pathological (disease-related) changes can be detected at an early stage and treated while promoting self-healing.
  • Ausestung suitable natural remedies – The necessary remedies are determined.
  • Recognition and elimination of obstacles to therapy – eg allergens, food intolerances, dental-jaw foci, residential toxins, toxins in food and exposure to toxins in the workplace.
  • Complementary therapy for chronic diseases

Electrotherapy in no way replaces conventional medical treatments such as surgery, emergency medicine, hormone replacement or immunosuppressive therapies.

Contraindications

Because the treatment uses electric current, caution is advised, especially in patients with a pacemaker. Pregnant women and patients with mental illness should not undergo electroacupuncture.

The procedure

Voll found that each measurement point has a characteristic electrical potential. Based on numerous comparisons with healthy subjects, he defined the scale of the electroacupuncture device from 0 to 100. On this scale, a potential that lies between 50 and 60 represents a good regulatory capacity of the associated system. Deviating values indicate interference. According to Voll, the measurement results are defined as follows:

  • 90-100 – Acute inflammation, allergy, toxicosis.
  • 60-90 – Hyperfunction of organs, acute or chronic inflammation.
  • 40-50 – Underfunction of organs, degenerative development.
  • Under 40 – Severe organ disease with cell death and scarring.

Another diagnostic criterion of electroacupuncture is the spontaneous pointer drop from high values to very low. This is considered a sure sign of a disease that should be treated. In addition, electroacupuncture can regulate body functions and muscle tone, as well as reduce pain sensations. Electroacupuncture is further used to test medications, especially:

  • Homeopathics – remedies that cause symptoms similar to the symptoms of the disease are used for treatment (treat similar with similar).
  • Allopathics – drugs that counteract disease symptoms (designation as a distinction from homeopathy).
  • Nosodes – so-called isopathic remedies, which consist of the same substance that causes the disease.
  • Regulatory substances – e.g. micronutrients (vital substances) such as vitamins, trace elements, etc.

The effect of the drugs is tested by the therapist. This observes whether during electroacupuncture the display of the meter changes to the norm. If this is not the case, the drug is intolerable for the patient.

Benefit

Electroacupuncture is a naturopathic treatment that is complementary to conventional medical treatment and makes a meaningful contribution to the patient’s recovery.
