Further questions

Whether or not a stroke has occurred cannot be determined directly from the blood count. Nevertheless, if a stroke is suspected or already diagnosed, it can be useful to determine not only the red and white blood cells but also the platelet count and the blood clotting values. If, for example, there is a pathological disorder in the coagulation system, the blood platelets tend to clump together, which can lead to life-threatening blood clots and, for example, block the cerebral vessels. Furthermore, the blood should be monitored for signs of inflammation or infection, as this can promote increased blood clotting.
