How do I use Floxal eye drops correctly?

Before using Floxal® eye drops, patients should first wash their hands thoroughly. Afterwards he can lean his head back slightly and pull the lower eyelid down slightly. The bottle containing the eye drops can now be brought close to the eye – but it should not touch it – and by applying light pressure a drop can be placed directly into the spread conjunctival sac.

This can cause a slight burning sensation. In order to distribute the liquid evenly, you should now blink several times or keep your eyes closed briefly. When stowing the package, make sure that the drops are not soiled.

The dosage of Floxal® eye drops is determined by the doctor’s prescription – you should adhere to this. If not otherwise prescribed, one drop should be placed in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye four times a day. The usual duration of therapy is a maximum of 14 days.

This dosage can be varied depending on the cause and severity of the infection. You should not discontinue the drops prematurely, even if your symptoms improve, because you risk a recurring infection. The use of any medication should be discussed with the treating physician during pregnancy and while breastfeeding in order to rule out possible harm to the child!

For Floxal® eye drops there is currently no evidence of damage to the unborn child, as they are used locally. The same applies to breastfeeding. In order to avoid any risk, the risks and benefits should be carefully weighed up with the treating physician.

Only very limited experience has been gained to date with their use in babies, children and adolescents. If your child suffers from an eye infection, it is essential that you consult your pediatrician or ophthalmologist so that they can select an appropriate therapy. Even if the child is most likely to have been infected by you, your Floxal® eye drops should not be administered to your child without consultation! Does your child suffer from conjunctivitis?
