Operation on the labia

An actual (especially optical) change in the intimate area is only caused by the surgical intervention. Different methods are practiced. The most common procedure of intimate surgery is the so-called labia reduction.

The main reason for this is aesthetics, but sometimes functional complaints, such as pain when riding a horse or bicycle, also play a role. This procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis and under local anesthesia. The aim of this operation is to remove the “excess” tissue, i.e. the visible part of the labia minora, with a scalpel, a laser or a high-frequency radiosurgical device.

The average duration of the surgery is 45 minutes. Resorbable, self-dissolving sutures are used to close the wound. Complete healing occurs after approximately four weeks.

In this case, a padding, i.e. an increase in volume, of the labia majora is performed. This is also a purely aesthetic procedure, which is intended to counteract age-related tissue slackening. In the case of a sexual dysfunction with orgasm difficulties of the woman, the uncovering of the clitoris can help under certain circumstances.

By partially or completely removing the foreskin, the stimulation and orgasmic ability of the woman should be increased. What the actual chances of success of such an operation are is not yet sufficiently proven. Before deciding on such an operation, one should first try to eliminate the problem by specific training of the pelvic floor muscles or altered sex positions.

Costs of the surgery

The cost of the surgery varies depending on the surgical method and anesthesia used. You should expect a price range of about 800 to 2000 Euro. If you decide to have such an operation, the choice of your surgeon should be based primarily on experience reports or photodocumented results.
