Structure and properties
Parecoxib (C19H18N2O4S, Mr = 370.4 g/mol) is a prodrug of valdecoxib that is rapidly metabolized to the active drug in vivo.
Effects
Parecoxib (ATC M01AH04) is analgesic and anti-inflammatory. Its properties are based on selective inhibition of the enzyme cyclooxygenase-2.
Indications
Short-term treatment of postoperative pain.
