Penile Pain

Penile pain (Latin penis “male member”; ICD-10: N48.9: disease of the penis, unspecified) usually occurs due to inflammation or injury.

The site of the pain may be in the urethra (urethra), as well as in the prepuce (prepuce) or in the corpora cavernosa penis (corpus cavernosum of the penis). It may also be discomfort transmitted from another location (referred pain).

Penile pain can be a symptom of many diseases (see under “Differential diagnoses”).

Course and prognosis: The course and prognosis depend on the cause of the condition. Penile pain, especially if acute and accompanied by symptoms such as bleeding, skin changes, or loss of erection, should be promptly evaluated medically.
