Perenterol Junior for Diarrhea

This is the active ingredient in Perenterol Junior

Perenterol Junior contains Saccaromyces boulardii, a medicinal yeast. It neutralizes bacterial toxins that cause diarrhoea and removes them from the body. Furthermore, the yeast has a growth-inhibiting effect on some pathogens, which reduces the toxin concentration and allows the intestinal mucosa to regenerate.

When is Perenterol Junior used?

The medicine is used in the treatment of acute diarrhea, as a prophylaxis for traveler’s diarrhea and as an adjunct therapy for acne treatment.

What side effects does Perenterol Junior have?

Perenterol Junior has few and mild side effects.

Taking the medicine may cause flatulence under certain circumstances, but this quickly disappears when the medicine is discontinued. Allergic reactions such as itching, redness, swelling or shortness of breath are also possible.

If you suffer from severe or unmentioned side effects, please consult a doctor.

What you should bear in mind when using Perenterol Junior

If diarrhea occurs as a result of tube feeding, three sachets of Perenterol-Junior should be dissolved in 1.5 liters of nutrient solution and administered to the patient daily.

For the concomitant treatment of acne, a Perenterol-Junior dosage of one sachet three times a day is recommended. The medication should be taken for several weeks.

It is best to mix the contents of the sachet with plenty of water or liquid food. This helps to stabilize the fluid balance and makes it easier to administer to children. However, the medium must not be hotter than 50 °C, as otherwise the yeasts will die and can no longer be effective.

Perenterol Junior: Contraindications

Perenterol Junior is a natural product, which is why there are only a few restrictions on its use. Perenterol Junior must not be taken if the patient is known to be allergic to any of the active substances or ingredients. Interactions can occur if taken at the same time as antibiotics and thus negatively influence the effect of Perenterol Junior.

Patients with life-threatening illnesses must not use Perenterol Junior.

If diarrhea persists for more than two days and is accompanied by fever, a doctor should be consulted immediately. It is important to provide plenty of fluids and salts. Diarrhea causes the body to lose a lot of water and the important electrolytes (salts) are flushed out of the body with the stool. The fluid and electrolyte balance must be kept stable, especially in children. A proven remedy is salt sticks with water or juice.

Perenterol Junior: children, pregnancy and breastfeeding

In contrast to many other anti-diarrheal medicines, Perenterol Junior does not contain any opioids and is therefore also suitable for use in children, although they should be at least two years old. Otherwise, the treatment of diarrhea in infants and young children should only be carried out by a doctor.

There is no clear evidence to rule out a risk to the unborn or newborn child. For this reason, Perenterol Junior should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

How to obtain Perenterol Junior

Perenterol Junior is available over the counter in all pharmacies.
