Permanent Make Up

Permanent make-up (synonyms: pigmentation; conture make-up; cosmetic tattooing on the face) is a cosmetic treatment that uses micropigmentation to simulate a waterproof, smudge-proof make-up that lasts for a long time. This is usually a simple basic makeup that provides a fresh, well-groomed look without much effort. However, everyone should be aware that it is a permanent change.

Indications (areas of application)

  • People who attaches great importance to his appearance and would like to save time.
  • People who can not use conventional cosmetics because they have allergic reactions
  • Patients with impending hair loss – for example, because of chemotherapy (cancer therapy with strong drugs) or alopecia (hair loss).
  • Patients with a cleft lip and palate (lip reconstruction).
  • Patients who want to improve their well-being by correcting unsightly scars
  • Athletes or sportswomen
  • Wearers of glasses or contact lenses

Contraindications

  • Anticoagulants (anticoagulant medications) – e.g., Marcumar.
  • Poorly adjusted diabetes mellitus
  • Highly infectious diseases – these include HIV and hepatitis infections (especially hepatitis B).
  • Pregnancy

The procedure

Formally, the procedure is similar to a tattoo, but the pigments are deposited only in the epidermis (upper layer of the skin) and not to the subcutis (subcutaneous layer). As a result, permanent makeup lasts for only 3-5 years on average, although this depends on individual patient factors (e.g. frequency of sun exposure).

Before starting, the patient should be informed about the risks and the procedure. Any side effects, such as mild redness or swelling, should be addressed. A color and type consultation is usually performed to select the optimal shades for the patient. Then, the desired procedures are determined and very precisely pre-drawn. Once the patient is satisfied with this, the area to be treated is disinfected and anesthetized with a local anesthetic (numbing agent that works on the spot), which is applied in the form of a cream. This is used to make the process painless, no anesthetic injections are used. The colors are medically tested for their allergenic or toxic effects and are well tolerated. However, the facility should meet certain criteria to exclude incidents with e.g. contaminated instruments or colors.

The pigments are now applied to the epidermis with a very fine needle of the pigmentation device. After the treatment, the patient can leave the practice immediately. Permanent makeup offers the following options:

  • Addition of eyebrow hairs
  • Thickening of the lash line
  • Eyeliner or kajal replacement
  • Retracing the lip contour – e.g. for very narrow lips.
  • Lip color filling – the complete lip is pigmented.
  • Nipple imitation – the nipple is visually changed or enlarged.
  • Beauty spots
  • Convalescent pigmentation – After surgery, accidents and diseases can positively change the appearance of scars in particular.

Benefits

Permanent makeup is a very effective way to beautify his appearance. In addition to the purely cosmetic indication, medical indications such as scar correction may also require this treatment.
