Synonym: retroversio
Retroversion
Retroversion is the countermovement to anteversion. The arm/leg is moved backwards. In anteversion and retroversion, the limbs must be understood as a pendulum.
The word retroversion comes from Latin and means: retro (back), vertere (turn/turn) In our example, a retroversion of the stretched arm takes place in the shoulder joint. This results in a contraction of the posterior deltoid muscle.
