Shingles on the eyebrow

The facial erysipelas of the eye, zoster ophthalmicus, particularly affects the regions of the forehead, bridge of the nose, tip of the nose and eyes due to the area of innervation of the affected nerve. In these areas, the zoster-typical skin symptoms, pain, burning and itching occur. Zoster usually occurs on one side and affects one to three dermatomes.

These are skin areas that are sensitively supplied by nerve fibers from different spinal cord segments. Therefore, the eyebrow can be affected by zoster on the eye.
