Storage
The ready-to-use syringes can be stored at room temperature (not higher than 25°C) until the expiry date. Special care should be taken to ensure that children do not have access to medication.
Side effects
Bleeding: If severe bleeding occurs during therapy with heparin, the heparin effect can be reversed in an emergency by administration of protamine. Blood platelet drop (thrombocytopenia): An insufficient number of platelets also increases the risk of bleeding. The concentration of platelets must therefore be determined regularly during therapy with heparin.
If this drops too much, the medication must be discontinued. Hair loss (alopecia): this ends, however, after stopping Clexane Increase in liver values (transaminases) Osteoporosis: especially with prolonged use (> 6 months)

Interaction with other drugs
The anticoagulant effect of “Clexane 40®” may be reduced if certain other medications are taken at the same time. These include: Antihistamines (used for allergies, among other things), tetracyclines (antibiotics) and glycerol nitrate (used for certain heart diseases, among other things). If Aspirin® is taken at the same time as heparin therapy, this should be discussed with your doctor, as this combination therapy is associated with a significantly higher risk of bleeding.
Contraindications
Allergy to heparin Decrease in blood platelets under therapy with “Clexane 40®” or other heparins Increased bleeding propensity due to other disorders of blood coagulation Increased risk of bleeding (shortly before operations) For use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, see article “Clexane Pregnancy“. – Allergy to heparin
