Swollen tear sacs and watery eyes
Lachrymal sacs and swollen eyes can be caused by a blockage of the tear duct. In this case, the liquid can no longer drain off and accumulates. A blockage of the lacrimal duct can occur during a cold.
Furthermore, inflammations of the eye can also cause these symptoms. Most often this occurs in the context of conjunctivitis or corneal inflammation. The inflammatory reaction also leads to swelling of the surrounding tissue and irritation of the eye, causing it to begin to water. These symptoms usually subside after successful treatment.
