The duration
Lymph node swelling persists as long as the immune system fends off a pathogen. The duration of a palpable swelling of the lymph nodes therefore depends on the severity of the disease and the state of the immune system. Swollen lymph nodes that have existed for longer than 1-2 weeks are more likely to be a persistent or chronic case and should be clarified by a doctor. All the more so if the lymph nodes cannot be moved, are of coarse consistency and are painless.
Do lymph nodes swell up during pregnancy?
Pregnancy is not an illness or an inflammatory event in the sense that a defensive reaction of the body is required. It can happen that due to the increased sensitivity of the immune system, the lymph nodes swell faster or more prominently than in non-pregnant women.
