Toothbrush holder
Toothbrush holders for children have long since ceased to be what they were twenty years ago – a simple mug or a glass. Nowadays there is a wealth of colors and shapes, there are motifs with the popular superheroes and princesses, which are supposed to give children a positive feeling when brushing their teeth. Furthermore, glass is mostly obsolete and there are new types of toothbrush holders that attach the toothbrush to the bathroom wall or mirror.
There is hardly any limit to the motifs. If the motif has become boring, it can easily be replaced. The various models of toothbrush holders are available for between three and seven euros.
Toothbrush covers
Toothbrush covers are available in a variety of colors especially for children. The cover is important so that the toothbrush is protected from bacteria during transport or travel and cannot become dirty. With manual toothbrushes, the sizes are usually adjusted so that every child’s toothbrush fits into it.
These covers are available at a reasonable price, mostly for less than five euros. With electric toothbrushes for children, a toothbrush cover is usually included in the purchase. If no cover is available, it can be purchased for about ten euros upwards. In general, you should make sure that the covers are easy to clean and that this is done regularly two to three times a week so that the toothbrush is not exposed to bacteria. Furthermore, the cover should also be made of plastic, not fabric, as it is difficult to clean because it is constantly getting damp.
How to treat gingivitis in children?
Gingivitis is not uncommon in young children, which is a painful experience. In young children between the ages of two and four, gingivitis is often caused by infection with the Herpes Simplex virus. The gums swell, redden and small blisters form.
In this so-called gingivitis herpetica, the child also suffers from fever and fatigue. For therapy, rinsing solutions prescribed by the dentist are usually suitable. In case of strong fever attacks, antipyretic drugs are additionally used. In naturopathy, rinses with calendula, thyme or chamomile are used, which are regularly applied three to four times a day.
Typically, however, gum inflammation is not caused by a herpes infection. If oral hygiene measures are not optimal, bacterial plaque remains on the teeth and gums and causes the inflammatory reaction. By removing the plaque, healing occurs quickly. Rinsing solutions are also helpful in this case for treatment and disinfection.
