Urinary Bladder Pain

In urinary bladder pain (synonyms: Cystalgia; Bladder pain; ICD-10-GM R39.8: Other and unspecified symptoms affecting the urinary system), many different causes can be distinguished, with urinary tract infections, such as cystitis (bladder inflammation), being the most common.

Urinary bladder pain is particularly severe in cases of ischuria (urinary retention), which is the inability to empty the bladder.

Urinary bladder pain can occur with both empty and full bladders.

Urinary bladder pain can be a symptom of many diseases (see under “Differential diagnoses”).

Course and prognosis: The course and prognosis depend on the underlying disease. In addition, symptomatic therapy is provided. Bladder pain is often recurrent (recurring), so preventive measures should be discussed with the affected person.
