White teeth through toothpaste

Introduction

Many people show severe discoloration in the area of the tooth surfaces, which are increasingly perceived as unattractive and disturbing. Since aesthetics and good looks tend to be more and more important in our society, these people in particular want a radiant smile. Not only healthy and caries-free, but above all beautiful, straight and white teeth seem to become more and more important.

Due to various factors, even healthy teeth can take on a yellow or greyish color. In addition to a certain genetic predisposition, the consumption of tobacco products, poor diet and occupation play an important role in the development of tooth discoloration. Since professional tooth whitening at the dentist is quite expensive at around 250 to 300 euros, more and more people are switching to special bleaching products that can also be used at home. In addition, the use of toothpaste for white teeth is becoming more and more popular among a large number of them.

Effectiveness

A special toothpaste for white teeth is usually actually able to visibly lighten the color of the teeth. Nevertheless, the user should not expect miracles even with regular use. The reason for this fact is that the ingredients of a toothpaste for white teeth are either so-called abrasive particles (abrasive particles) or merely very mild chemical bleaching compounds.

The whitening effect of such a toothpaste is therefore not primarily based on the bleaching effect penetrating into the tooth substance, but rather on the abrasion of the dirt particles and colorants on the tooth surface. In particular, deposits and brownish-black tooth plaque, which result from the frequent consumption of tobacco products, coffee, tea or red wine, can be removed in a targeted manner in this way. The result is visibly whiter teeth, which can, however, show discoloration again after a short time. For users who have a perfect tooth status without carious defects and enamel lesions, with intact gums, a toothpaste for white teeth can be used without hesitation. However, patients who suffer from extensive lesions in the area of the enamel, gum inflammation or even receding gums should be careful when using white toothpaste.
