Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of yellow fever.

Social history

  • Have you been abroad recently? If so, where (endemic areas of Africa and South America)?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What symptoms have you noticed?
  • Do you suffer from symptoms of flu like general feeling of sickness?
  • Do you have a fever? If so, how high and for how long?
  • Do you suffer from muscle pain/headache?
  • Have you been vomiting? If so, what did the vomit look like?
  • Do you have diarrhea? If so, what did the diarrhea look like?
  • Did you notice any skin bleeding or discoloration of the skin/eyes?
  • Have you noticed any changes such as impaired movement or speech?* .
  • Have any convulsions occurred?
  • Can you remember a mosquito bite?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Were you adequately protected against infectious diseases during your trip? Through vaccinations? Clothing?
  • Did you notice any changes in bowel movements and/or urination (frequency, quantity, color)?

Self history including medication history.
