Risks | Vaccination during pregnancy

Risks

Otherwise there is of course a risk of the same side effects in a pregnant woman that can occur in other people with a vaccination. These mainly include fatigue and local symptoms such as redness, swelling and itching or sensitivity of the area where the vaccine has been injected. More rarely, fever, swelling of lymph nodes or disease-specific symptoms (for example, joint pain in the case of rubella vaccination) may occur.

Contraindications

The usual contraindications for a vaccination also apply to pregnant women as well as to the general population (in case of doubt, however, these are seen somewhat more narrowly in pregnant women). These include an allergy to chicken protein, an already existing disease or immunodeficiency.
