Treatment with heparin ointment
A helpful ointment for the treatment of bruises is a heparin ointment. Heparin is a medicinal substance that intervenes in the process of blood clotting. When heparin is applied as an ointment to a bruise, it is absorbed into the skin and tissue.
Here it prevents the bruise from transforming from a liquid to a solid state. Heparin also ensures that the bruise is broken down more quickly. One of the reasons for this is that it improves the blood circulation in the tissue.
In the ideal case, the bruise disappears faster. For some bruises and patients, heparin ointments work well, for others less or not at all. Experts also have different opinions on the subject of heparin ointments.
Some people say that heparin does not pass through the skin and therefore does not work. Other opinions are that heparin works very well. In principle, one can say that it is definitely a possibility to try the treatment with a heparin ointment. There are many manufacturers on the market. It is not necessary to use the most expensive brand.
Treatment with analgesic ointments
A bruise usually not only looks unpleasant, but often feels like it. Depending on the severity of the injury, the bruise will only cause discomfort if it is touched accidentally or deliberately pressed on. In other cases it also makes itself felt when resting or during everyday movements.
Here the use of Ibuprofen or Voltaren® in ointment form can help. The active substance contained in these ointments reduces the release of pain-promoting mediators (carriers) locally at the site, which means pain relief. It also accelerates the healing process.
There are a wide variety of suppliers of these ointments, all of whom want to outperform each other in terms of effectiveness. In principle, however, even the cheaper preparation from the pharmacy can help. Afterwards still another more expensive preparation can be tried with non-effects.Here, too, the experts differ in their opinions about the effectiveness.
The question is whether sufficient amounts of the active ingredients even get through the skin and work on the bruise. However, in the case of acute pain in the first few days, it is advisable to try out one of the various ointments in any case. If the pain is more severe, ibuprofen, diclofenac or paracetamol in tablet form can also be used over a shorter period of time. However, this should remain the exception.
