Therapy recommendations
- Hormone-free phytotherapeutics (herbal remedies) such as Agnus castus preparations should be at the beginning of a treatment alongside non-drug forms of therapy; furthermore, micronutrients (vital substances) are used in a complementary manner (see supplements below)
- Hormone therapy for cyclic (premenstrual mastodynia); treatment with: Progestins, oral, transdermal and vaginal; prolactin inhibitors (dopamine agonists).
- Estrogen-progestin combination or progestins in contraception desire (contraception) and mastodynia.

Supplements (dietary supplements; vital substances)
Suitable dietary supplements should contain the following vital substances:
- Vitamins (pyridoxine (vitamin B6), vitamin E (tocopherols), vitamin C (ascorbic acid)).
- Fatty acids – gamma-linolenic acid (GLA)
- Secondary plant compounds – beta-carotene (provitamin A), soy proteins (genistein, daidzein, glycitein).
