Supplements (dietary supplements; vital substances)
Suitable dietary supplements should contain the following vital substances:
- Vitamins (A, C, E, D3, B1, B2 B3, B5, B6, B12, folic acid, biotin).
- Minerals (magnesium)
- Trace elements (molybdenum, selenium, zinc)
- Fatty acids (omega-3 fatty acids: eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)).
- Secondary plant compounds (eg beta-carotene, flavonoids, lycopene, polyphenols).
- Other vital substances (L-carnitine, coenzyme Q10, green tea polyphenols (catechins, epigallocatechin gallate), cocoa flavanols, rose root extract.
