Adenosine

Adenosine is commercially available as a solution for injection (Krenosin). It has been approved in many countries since 1992.

Structure and properties

Adenosine (C₁₀H₁₃N₅O₄, M_r = 267.2 g/mol) exists as a white crystalline powder that is sparingly soluble in water at room temperature and more soluble in hot water.

Effects

Adenosine (ATC C01EB10) is negatively dromotropic at the AV node. It slows conduction at the AV node.

Indications

For rapid reversal of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia to normal sinus rhythm.
