Alternative therapy | Prostate enlargement therapy

Alternative therapy

  • Heat treatmentThe possibility of localized heat application through the rectum. At temperatures below 45°C this is comfortable for the patient, but objectively speaking it is ineffective. Only at temperatures above 60° is a demonstrable reduction of the prostate possible.

There are hardly any long-term results about this procedure.

  • Intraurethral implantsTubular grids can keep the urethra open despite constriction by the enlarged prostate. However, this often causes irritation of the bladder and is only useful in patients who are not too operable but able to walk.
  • Laser therapyThe laser steel leads to heat-related burns of the tissue. However, there are few usable long-term results, which is why this procedure is used only cautiously.
  • Holmium – Laser – ResectionIt removes prostate tissue and creates a channel for easier urination. The procedure is low bleeding and less invasive. Unfortunately, there are no long-term results here either.
