Antibiotics to lower the CRP level
Antibiotics are drugs that are used to fight bacterial infections. They can be divided into different groups and classes according to their mode and site of action. Not every antibiotic works on all bacteria, some bacteria develop resistance.
Thus, it must be decided separately for each infection and for each patient which antibiotic should be given. Bacteria can lead to a variety of diseases in the human body. The most common bacterial diseases are diverticulitis, endocarditis, sepsis, urinary tract infection, cystitis, gall bladder inflammation, kidney inflammation, etc.
All lead to massive inflammation with a sharp increase in CRP levels. As a rule, the administration of antibiotics to combat the disease is the remedy of choice, in some cases the administration of several antibiotics is also indicated. By fighting the bacteria, the inflammation decreases and with it the CRP value also decreases, often only a few days later.
It is therefore also a marker for the response to therapy. If there is no reduction or even a further increase, a change in therapy is necessary. Only when the normal value is reached is the inflammation healed and the patients are discharged from hospital. However, it is often important to continue taking the antibiotics for a few days in order to prevent the bacteria from developing resistance.
