Are there also cases without late effects of a Chlamydia infection?
Chlamydia infections do not necessarily have to be accompanied by consequences. Especially if they are detected early and treated adequately, consequential damage can be prevented. The therapy consists of the administration of the antibiotic doxycycline over several weeks.
If the chlamydia infection can be contained in this way, consequences rarely occur. The longer the chlamydia infection persists untreated, the more likely it is that secondary diseases such as chronic inflammation will occur, leading to a loss of function of the affected organs.
