- Neurological examination [due topossible causes:
- Brain lesions such as tumors in children.
- Viral encephalitis (inflammation of the brain)
- Tuberous cerebral sclerosis (genetic disease of the child that leads to retardation of the child)]
- Psychiatric examination [due todifferential diagnoses:
- Attention/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
- Memory disorders
- Reduction in intelligence
- Learning disorders
- Language acquisition disorders]
