- Granulomatous prostatitis – inflammation of the prostate gland with formation of granulomas (tissue nodules) after secretion stasis.
- Prostate abscess – accumulation of pus in the prostate gland.
- Prostatodynia – non-inflammatory pain syndrome of the prostate gland.
Various medications can have effects on the urinary tract similar to BPH:
- Alcohol
- Alpha blockers such as prazosin
- Anticholinergics such as ipratropium bromide
- Antidepressants such as amitriptyline
- Antiparkinsonian drugs such as bromocriptine
- Diuretics such as furosemide
- Muscle relaxants
- Ergot alkaloids
- Parasympathomimetics
