Calf Swelling

Calf swelling (ICD-10 R68.8: Other specified general symptoms; S89.8: Other specified injuries of the lower leg) is relatively common. They can have many different causes (see “Differential diagnoses”). The course may be acute or chronic.

Calf swelling can occur on one or both sides and can be a symptom of many diseases (see under “Differential diagnoses”).

Course and prognosis: The course and prognosis depend on the cause of the disease. Medical evaluation is required in all cases.
