Cancer: Lab Test

1st order laboratory parameters – obligatory laboratory tests.

  • Small blood count
  • Differential blood count
  • Electrolytes – Na, K, Ca
  • Gamma-GT, LDH
  • Alkaline phosphatase
  • Renal parameters – urea, creatinine, cystatin C if necessary.
  • Other parameters depending on the type of tumor

Laboratory parameters 2nd order – depending on the results of the medical history, physical examination, etc.

  • Liquid biopsy: circulating tumor DNA fragments (ctDNA) in the blood – screening for cancer (pre)disposition.
  • Tumor markers – depending on tumor type (e.g., alpha-fetoprotein in liver tumors).
  • Genetic and cellular diagnostics (e.g., in some forms of leukemia and thyroid carcinoma).
  • Other parameters depending on the type of tumor
