Endocarditis: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) is an important component in the diagnosis of endocarditis (inflammation of the inner lining of the heart).

Family history

  • Is there a frequent occurrence of heart disease in your family?

Social anamnesis

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Do you suffer from fever? For how long? Does the fever fluctuate or occur continuously?
  • Do you have a general exhaustion or a pronounced lack of strength and drive?
  • Do you suffer from shortness of breath?*
  • Do you have a rapid pulse (palpitations)* ?
  • Do you have heart palpitations?
  • Do you have shortness of breath?*
  • Do you have back pain?
  • Have you noticed any other symptoms such as fatigue, aching limbs or loss of appetite?
  • Have you noticed any skin changes such as small skin bleeding?
  • Are you sweating?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

Self history including medication history.
