Causes of a skin rash during pregnancy

Skin rashes can of course also occur during pregnancy. These include the PUPP syndrome. The cause for the appearance of this rash is not known.

It can occur at any part of the skin. Characteristically, the rash appears on the abdomen or arms. In almost all cases the Pupp syndrome starts in the second half of pregnancy.

After the birth of the child they disappear again very suddenly. The treatment is purely symptomatic. Ointments and lotions containing cortisone are used to reduce the inflammation in the skin and also anti-itching substances such as Fenistil, which is applied as a gel to the itchy skin area.

In addition to PUPP syndrome, pregnancy can always lead to the onset of neurodermatitis. Usually beginning in the crook of the arm, the rashes can also spread to the forearms, abdomen, chest or head area and can be very distressing. Neurodermatitis in pregnancy is treated as usual, namely with creams containing cortisone. Since neurodermatitis occurs in relapses, a basic therapy consisting of skin care lotions should be carried out and an intensive treatment with a cortisone preparation should be carried out during a relapse. and scarlet fever in pregnancy

Causes of skin rash without itching

A rash can also occur without annoying itching. This is also the case with scarlet fever in addition to mumps. In this case, a rash without itching appears at the beginning of the disease, although itching may still start later in the course of the disease, when the skin peels off.

Skin rash without itching also occurs in HIV. In this case, the weakened immune system generally facilitates infections and thus also skin infections.Another variant of the non-irritant rash is the heat pimples, where sweat produces too much secretion and becomes clogged in the course of the rash, causing pimples and rashes, which are usually not accompanied by itching. Finally, there are undesirable drug effects, i.e. side effects that manifest themselves as a rash without itching. Typical representatives of these drugs are certain antibiotics (e.g. amoxicillin), some painkillers or even epilepsy drugs (antiepileptic drugs).
