Cetylsalve is not commercially available as a finished drug product and must be prepared in a pharmacy. Pharmacies can also order it from specialized service providers (e.g., Hänseler).

The cetyl alcohol, lanolin and white vaseline are made into an ointment. Store away from light.
Structure and properties
It is a translucent, yellowish ointment with a faint smell of wool grease. It is greasy and can absorb water.
Indications for use
Cetyl ointment is used, among other things, to make other ointments such as pasta cerata Schleich FH.
Undesirable effects
Possible adverse effects include hypersensitivity reactions.
