Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of cholera.

Family history

  • What is the general health of your family members?

Social history

  • Have you been abroad recently? If so, where?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What symptoms have you noticed?
  • Do you suffer from diarrhea? If yes, since when? How many stools a day?
  • What does the stool look like? Can you see blood or mucus admixtures?*
  • Do you also suffer from nausea and vomiting? If so, how often?
  • What does the vomit look like? Blood admixtures?* Bilious?
  • Do you have any abdominal pain? If so, where exactly are they localized?
  • Do you feel sick?
  • Have you or those around you noticed any changes in your voice (high-pitched voice)* ?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Has your appetite changed?
  • Have you lost a lot of body weight quickly?
  • How much do you drink a day?

Self history incl. medication history

  • Pre-existing conditions (gastrointestinal diseases).
