Clidinium bromide is commercially available in the form of dragées in combination with chlordiazepoxide (Librax). It has been approved in many countries since 1961.

Effects

Clidinium bromide (ATC A03CA02) has anticholinergic and spasmolytic properties on smooth muscle.

Indications

In combination with chlordiazepoxide:

  • Gastrointestinal or genitourinary tract disorders when caused or complicated by anxiety or tension
  • Digestive tract: e.g., irritable colon, spastic colon, and functional concomitants of hypersecretion and hypermotility in the gastrointestinal tract, such as diarrhea, colitis, gastritis, duodenitis, ventricular ulcer, duodenal ulcer, and dyskinesia of the biliary tract
  • Genitourinary tract: spasms and dyskinesias, enuresis nocturna, functional irritable bladder and dysmenorrhea.
