Consequences of chronic insomnia
The consequences of chronic lack of sleep are very diverse and sometimes not without danger. Concentration in particular suffers enormously if you often sleep too little. This can have a detrimental effect on school or professional life.
Constant fatigue also leads to irritability and reduced performance. The stress level rises and stressful situations are handled less well. If you are already suffering from a mental illness, insomnia usually has a negative effect on it as well.
If one does not sleep enough, the entire body cannot regenerate sufficiently. The hormone balance is often disturbed to a great extent. This can aggravate mental illness or weaken the immune system.
Also the risk of getting a cardiovascular disease increases significantly, because our circulatory system cannot recover sufficiently due to insomnia. Furthermore, the aging process caused by insomnia also continues to progress.
