Costs of a gynecological examination
The costs of the gynecological examination are usually covered by health insurance. Every woman is entitled to a regular cancer check-up and can also have a gynecological examination at any time if she has any complaints, without having to pay for it herself. In the case of privately insured patients, it is possible that the patient will have to pay in advance for the examination.
However, she will get the money back from her health insurance company after submitting the invoice. All examinations that are medically necessary are therefore covered by the insurance company. Optional services have to be paid for by the patient herself, as these additional examinations are not necessarily always beneficial.
Sometimes they provide false-positive results and only lead to unnecessary uncertainty. Also the insertion of hormone coils or other contraceptive methods (e.g. three-month injection, hormone sticks) must usually be paid for by the patient herself.
