Dental Implantology: Teeth Implants

An aesthetic smile plays a prominent role for all of us in today’s society. Implantology, as a branch of dentistry, helps a patient with tooth loss to get artificial tooth roots, which are aesthetically restored with crowns or extended dentures.

Since its introduction in Germany, implantology has been very popular with patients. As a result, the implantologists working with us today can draw on a wealth of experience and successfully treat almost any patient with tooth loss. Dentists as well as oral surgeons and specialists for oral and maxillofacial surgery (MKG) implant (“plant in”) the screw threads made of titanium or ceramics, which are called implants, which are either immediately or after a healing period of several months provided with a so-called superstructure.

An implant can look more natural than any other tooth replacement:

Whether tooth loss due to dental accident, non-attachment, periodontitis (inflammation caused by bacteria, which manifests itself in a largely irreversible destruction of the tooth-supporting apparatus (periodontium)) or carious defects (“tooth decay“): implantology increases the quality of life through fixed dental prostheses, provided that the patient, for his part, ensures a long, inflammation-free residence time of the implants in his mouth through consistent and regular care.

Care of dental implants: A dental implant must be cared for at least as well as the patient’s own teeth. This is the only way to avoid mucositis (inflammation of the oral mucosa), around the implants, and consequently prevent peri-implantitis (progressive inflammation of the bony bearing of a dental implant with peri-implant bone loss). An increased risk of peri-implantitis is faced by patients with chronic periodontitis, poor plaque control and lack of regular oral hygiene after implant therapy.
