Structure and properties
Dihydrotachysterol (C28H46O, Mr = 398.7 g/mol) is a lipophilic analog of vitamin D.
Effects
Dihydrotachysterol (ATC A11CC02) has multiple properties in calcium metabolism. The compound is already active and does not need to be activated in renal tissue in the presence of parathyroid hormone.

- Hypoparathyroidism
- Pseudohypoparathyroidism
Dosage
According to the professional information. The solution is taken drop by drop and independently of meals, preferably with hot liquid such as tea. The drops may also be mixed into food. The dose must be determined individually.

- Hypercalcemia
- Vitamin D overdose

Interactions
Drug-drug interactions have been described with enzyme inducers, thiazides, thyroxine, and cardiac glycosides. Concomitant administration of vitamin D is not indicated.
Adverse effects
There is a risk for the development of hypercalcemia.
