Disorders of Vestibular Function: Consequential Diseases

The following are the most important diseases or complications that may be contributed to by disorders of vestibular function:

Psyche – Nervous System (F00-F99; G00-G99).

  • Social isolation – when not leaving the house due to dizziness.

Symptoms and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings not elsewhere classified (R00-R99)

  • Gait unsteadiness/gait disturbance

Injuries, poisonings, and certain other consequences of external causes (S00-T98)

  • Fractures (broken bones) due to falls.

  • Mortality risk ↑ (dizziness is an independent risk parameter): dizziness patients had over 70% increased mortality risk (death rate) compared with dizziness-free patients; 9% of dizziness patients died in the following five years.
