Dosage
Depending on the size of the body region to be treated, apply a cherry to walnut-sized amount (corresponding to about one to four mg) of Voltaren Emulgel® to the skin and massage it in. The application can be repeated up to three times a day. Basically, the ointment can also be used over a longer period of time without hesitation. However, if the symptoms persist after two weeks of use, a doctor should be consulted.
Is Voltaren Emulgel® prescription-only?
Voltaren Emulgel® is a prescription-only drug that is only available on prescription from a doctor in a pharmacy. The prescription can be issued, for example, by the family doctor or an orthopedist. Voltaren® pain gel, on the other hand, is available without a prescription and therefore not subject to prescription.
It is basically the same product, with identical active ingredient, active strength and additives. However, just like Voltaren Emulgel, it is only available in pharmacies.
